The Perfect Brew

Step 1 To brew a pot of perfect tea, first fill a teakettle with cold spring water (tap
water has chemicals and chlorine in it which will ruin the taste of your perfect pot of tea) and bring it to a boil.

Step 2 While your teakettle water is heating, run hot tap water in your teapot to
warm it up.

Step 3 When your teapot is nicely warmed (just before pouring the boiling water in it), pour out the tap water.

Step 4 If you are using loose tea, place 1 teaspoon for each cup of tea in the warmed teapot and then add one more teaspoon "for the pot." If you are using teabags, use 1 teabag less than the desired number of
cups. Allow the tags to hang over the side of the teapot.

Step 5 As soon as the kettle comes to a rolling boil, remove it from the heat. Over boiling causes the water to lose oxygen and the resulting brewed tea will taste flat.

Step 6 Once the water has boiled, bring the teapot to the stove and pour the appropriate
amount of boiling water in it from the teakettle.

Step 7 Cover the teapot with the lid and allow the tea to steep for 3 - 6 minutes.

Step 8 To properl drink your perfect tea, you will need to put the sugar cubes, lemon, or milk into your teacup first.

Step 9 Gently stir the tea in the teapot before slowly pouring it through a tea
strainer into the teacups. Fill the teacup, but don't overfill, as it will cause spillage.

Step 10 If you used teabags, remove them
now and squeeze out all excess water by wrapping the string around each bag as it lies in the bowl of the teaspoon.

Step 11 Put a tea cozy (made of fabric) on your teapot to keep the tea warm while you drink your first cup.
