The Scout Master: I was out this way doing maintenance on some caches and stopped by this one. However, I could not at first find it. After some searching and digging, I finally found it still on a stick of the old stump but it had broken off and was under dirt and fungus. I think this one has been all it could be, but it has gone the way of the Old Old Chimney, so I am archiving it. Thanks to all who logged it.

Geocache Description:

NOTE: THE OLD CHIMNEY COLLAPSED Nov. 26, 2009 due to recent heavy rains. There are now only a few of the rocks that it was made of left.

The container is a bison-like botle about the size of your thumb. .
The photo below of how the chimney used to look was taken by cacher ColumbusMark, who graciously allowed me to use it for the cache page.

Located along Highway 11 near Campobello, SC, I placed this cache to add to my Hwy 11 series. I always enjoy seeing these old landmarks. So sad to see it fall...the owner said it had been standing for over 200 years. In August of 2010 he had the rocks removed

.....Be careful, the ground is SOFT, and can be MUDDY.
Also, in the summer, Kudzu is King. Watch for BRIARS also. Fireants have been reported also.

The container is now hanging on what was the stump at the coordinates.

.....OK for kids, but remember the soft ground, rocks and the briars. Stealth may be required from passing traffic.

.....Permission for a cache and for cachers to search for it has been granted by the landowner.
