Geocache Description:

A cache created by The Stowmartians and later adopted by TeamCairney

Keepers Cottage & Slushy Lane Our 6th and final cache set in Bramford.

This is a straight forward cache and it’s up to you how long you want to make it, either parking at the old school or in village street and walking up Bullen Lane or driving up there to be nearer to the cache, the choice is yours though it does make a delightful walk..

From Fison's Horn 2 it is just over a mile and half away..

Bullen Lane is a place that holds happy memories for me (Mrs StowMartian)

On Sunday afternoons the whole family would often walk up here, picking all the wild flowers and searching for places to make dens. Dad would show us where the badgers and foxes lived and could name all the birds we saw on our way. It was through him that I developed my love of Ornithology and wildlife..

If the weather was nice Mum would take along a picnic so we could have our tea outside. Sandwiches wrapped in greaseproof paper, home made cakes and bottles of orange squash, excellent!.

As you walk up take note of the delightful Keepers Cottage, though it’s been altered and modernised, this was somewhere I always wanted to live! There was no building yard etc there then and the cottage was half its size! My friends lived there when I was young as their Dad was the gamekeeper and I was so envious of them!.

Up nearer the Power station there are loads of Blackberry bushes which produce great quantities of blackberries along with apple, plums and damson trees and where we have picked loads throughout the years for which Mum would make pies and jam with..

Dad always went to get his bean sticks from Slushy Lane one of the footpaths off from Bullen Lane, with him telling us there are ‘no finer than down Slushy Lane’. The cache is located on one of the footpaths near here..

Enjoy the cache which is a regular tub wrapped in a camo bag, with lots of swaps inside, and don’t forget the prize for the First to Find ‘TheStowMartians’ xx.
