Une cache pour vous parler de ce nid d'aigle, niché tout en haut de son piton rocheux.
En chemin, vous pourrez aussi découvrir une charmante église, ainsi qu'une fontaine joliment éclairée. L'accès au château étant payant, nous avons placé le "trésor" à ses pieds.
Le site est extrêmement fréquenté en été et nous avons essayé de choisir une position discrète, mais la discrétion reste relative. Essayez de bien re-cacher la boîte. Merci pour vos efforts !
A 965m d'altitude, le château de Lordat domine toute la haute vallée de l'Ariège, le Sabarthès. Les premières constructions remontent vraisemblablement aux IX et Xèmes siècles.
Il est cité de manière explicite en 1034, relevant alors des comtes de Foix.
Les ruines visibles aujourd'hui sont celles du château qui existait aux X et XIèmes siècles.
Il fut agrandi au XIIIème siècle et occupé pendant la croisade contre les Albigeois.
Le serment du vicomte de Béarn et du comte de Foix (1213) fait état du château de Lordat, parmi les places fortes remises au roi de France.
La citerne voûtée et cimentée est encore bien visible, mais c'est l'entrée, protégée par une tour carrée, qui conserve le mieux son aspect d'origine.
Des travaux de consolidation et de mise en valeur de ce monument historique ont été réalisés par les collectivités depuis 1999 (Conseil Général et Communauté de Communes de Luzenac).
Depuis plusieurs années, l’accès du château et de sa table d’orientation n’est pas libre, il s’accompagne de la découverte d’une volerie de plus de 35 oiseaux de proie et d’un spectacle d’aigles.
Il est classé Monument Historique depuis 1923.

A cache to tell you about this eagle's nest, nestled on top of a rocky outcrop.
Along the way, you can also discover a charming church and a fountain nicely lit. As the access to the castle is not free, we placed the "treasure" at its feet.
The site is extremely busy in the summer and we tried to choose a discrete position, but discretion remains relative. Try to re-hide the box well. Thank you for your efforts!
At an altutude of 965m, Lordat Castle dominates the upper valley of the Ariège, the Sabarthès. The first buildings probably date from the IX and Xth centuries.
It was explicitly mentioned in 1034, under the Counts of Foix.
The ruins visible today are those of the castle that existed in X and XIth centuries.
It was enlarged in the thirteenth century and occupied during the crusade against the Albigensians.
The oath of the Viscount of Béarn and the Count of Foix (1213) reported Lordat Castle among the strongholds given to the king of France.
The vaulted and cemented tank is still visible, but it is the entrance, protected by a square tower, which best preserves its original appearance.
Works of consolidation and development of this historical monument have been carried out by local communities since 1999 (General Council and Community of Communes of Luzenac).
For several years, the access to the castle and its orientation table has not been free: there is also the discovery of over 35 birds of prey and a show of eagles.
It has been classified a historical monument since 1923.
