Der Süntel ist ein 440 Meter hoher Berg im
Weserbergland
Im Süntel befindet sich ein Quelltopf. Der
Quelltopf ist verockert. Der Ocker entsteht durch eine chemische
Reaktion.
Die Steinkohle im Süntel enthält reichlich
Pyrit (Mineral). Der Pyrit zerfällt zu gelöstem Eisen und verdünnte
Schwefelsäure.
Sauerstoffzufuhr trennt das Pyrit zu Schwefel
und Eisen. Das Eisen befindet sich gelöst im Wasser.
Das gelöste Eisen verbindet sich mit im Wasser
gelöstem Sauerstoff und bildet den Ocker (Rost).
Ocker ist ein erdfarbenes Pigment und dient zur
Herstellung von Farben.
