Grass Valley Loop Traditional Cache
Muggle Finder: Rumor has it that the fence may have been installed by the people who graze cattle there rather than by the Park District but I don't want to tempt people to crawl under fences regardless of who installed the fence. I'm going to archive this one. I'll retrieve the cache when I can.

The Redwood trees in this park are really wonderful! A fine big tree needs a fine big cache! There is a GBA geocoin in the cache for the First-to Find.
Anthony Chabot Regional park is a huge park stretching from Castro Valley to Oakland. While a lot of Anthony Chabot Park is hilly there is a nice loop between the Bort Meadow and Clyde Woolridge staging areas that is fairly easy going once you get to the main trails. The loop takes you downhill from either the Bort Meadow or Clyde Woolridge staging area. Then you go one way along the Grass Valley trail and back via the Brandon trail (or vice versa if that pleases you). If you don't hike a lot you may find yourself doing some huffing and puffing as you head back uphill to the staging area. There are usually park maps available near the parking lot so you can check out the route before you head out.
There are lots of caches along the way!
This route is along wide fire roads that permit hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Dogs are allowed off lead once you get to the dirt fire road but they have to be under voice control (which means the dog is in the handler’s sight and the handler can call the dog back before he or she approaches any human or critter who does not want the dog to approach them). It is good manners to call your dog back to your side when you see another park visitor (or resident critter) until you know that they are o.k. with being near a loose dog.
The cache is located no more than 15-feet off the trail (no bushwhacking is required). Should be fun and easy.
