Geocache Description:

This is the third cache in a series in and around the picturesque village of Ash, near Sandwich. The Series will lead you on a gentle and enjoyable walk around this lovely village. Follow the waypoint which is the entrance to a public footpath. From here, follow cache co-ordinates which will lead you to a small pond. Please be aware of the sheep in the fields (and the associated underfoot hazards that they cause) plus also the pond itself.

The footpath is popular for ramblers and dog walkers, plus the pond can be used a meeting point for teenagers. Choose your timing carefully.

You are looking for a small round capsule containing log book and pen. Please replace the elastic band around the log book for ease of removing / replacing it from the cache.

Collection the clues in each of the caches which will lead to a bonus cache once the series is complete.

Snippet of history: From 1916 to 1948 ithe village had a station ("Ash Town") on the East Kent Light Railway , one of Colonel Stephens' lines, which ran between Shepherdswell & Wingham.

Once you have collected the cache, to continue the series, follow co-ordinates to 'Out and about around Ash #4 – Church Micro'. Follow the footpath until you cross a small stone gravel lane. Walk up the lane (turning left out of the field) which will get you back to The Street, Ash.
