Geocache Description:

This is known as Hasenclever Hill on the NJ1K list of peaks in NJ over 1,000 feet. It is hidden near a stunning view from an outcrop known as Black Rock, which is just over the border in NY.

The coords for Black Rock are N41 09.620 W074 16.336 (Thanks Continental Drifter)

Couldn't put the cache directly at Black Rock because Sterling Forest is not very geocaching friendly. The cache is only about 40 feet from the NY/NJ border. There is also a pretty nice view if you climb the boulder that the cache is hidden under.

The area is an interesting one, with numerous erratics and balanced rocks.

Terrain depends on the approach. The rating assumes an approach from the south which seems to be the most popular one on the NJ1K website. Knock off a star if approaching from the north. For the northern approach park at the Blue Lake parking area on Long Meadow Rd. The approach from the south can be from Long Pond Ironworks or Ringwood Manor SP.
