Geocache Description:

Here is a place that not many people know exists. These old livestock scales are tucked away right next to airport property. I see many people walking dogs down the road, so 1) keep an eye out for walker muggles and 2) bring your dog!

Here's some info that Commissioner Skinner gave me, since he was director of the Gallatin Beef Producers for awhile:
The Corrals were built by the Beef Producers in the early 70’s and have been used extensively by members and non members for weighing and shipping cattle and sheep. I believe they were built on donated land from the Dringles. They are still used today but to a lesser degree and mostly in the fall because many cattle buyers have gotten their own scales and facilities but they are still an important part of the local industry. I think the road has been abandoned for public use because we had to put a locked bar across many years ago because of vandalism. I know many folks walk dogs down that road and it has never been a problem. It’s nice to have people keeping an eye on them.

Container is a normal rubbermaid, there is pavement leading up to the last 50' of the cache or so. Great area to sit and watch planes come in as well.

Special Tools Notice: A Phillips head screwdriver is needed to access this cache.
