Usui Barrier Site : Here was important barrier.

Jomo Karuta ”U” : Usui touge no sekisho ato (mean Usui Barrier Site)

The Usui pass is a pass in the boundary in Nagano Prefecture and Gunma Prefecture.
An important old highway, Nakasendo had exceeded this pass.
Then, Yokokawa had the barrier in Edo period.
Here was attached to importance to defend Edo with the Barrier of Kiso-Fukushima. (visit link)

The gate has been restored to the vicinity of the barrier that is now.
