Geocache Description:

The first in our series of 'Super hero' caches!

We are trying to make these a bit different so the actual cache container has some connection with the character the cache is named after (credit must be given to Little Leelly and his vast knowledge of all things 'super'). So some research may be required!

The Thing (Benjamin Jacob "Ben" Grimm) is a fictional character, a founding member of the superhero team known as the Fantastic Four, who gained superpowers after exposure to cosmic rays during a scientific mission to outer space.

Ben Grimm became the monstrous Thing the grumpy but benevolent character, who possesses superhuman strength and endurance due to the nature of his stone-like flesh.

He was created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee in The Fantastic Four #1 (Nov. 1961). His trademark orange rocky appearance, sense of humour, blue eyes, and his famous battle cry, "It's clobberin' time!" makes him one of comics' most recognisable and popular characters.

This cache is located in Clarence Park (the cricket side!), which was given as a gift to the town of Weston-super-Mare in 1882 by Rebecca Davis in memory of her husband.
