The entrance to this Halloween Themed Cache is a trail located in the back of Allaire Park (John Antoline Park) in Monaca, PA. Please respect park hours during caching: dawn to dusk. Use the any of the paths BEFORE the private property signs. You can access this cache from many different areas, but it is NOT NECESSARY to cross onto any private property. Follow the parking coordinates and enjoy the cache!
2010: two amature geocachers entered the woods of Allaire Park for an afternoon hike...and never made it out. Days turned into nights, then weeks into months, they were never heard from again.
Authorities report that the hikers car was parked toward the back of the park, near the fence. Footprints lead down the road, past the dumpsters, and into one of the few trails that led into the woods. After canvasing the area for over a week, a break in the case was finally made; a single human skull (missing its jawbone) was found neatly tucked away from prying eyes. Inside the skull was a water tight container which simply contined a list of names and a pencil, authorities could only guess as to what it meant.
Not wanting to alert the community they left the skull untouched just as they found it, but were compelled to sign the log!
Should you follow the footsteps of the missing hikers and look for their remains yourself, you'll know you are near the area when you see the stick figure hanging from the tree! Included in this listing is an actual police evidence photo detailing the area.
