Geocache Description:

An interesting pyramid shaped monument hidden away in the Aberdeenshire countryside. Parking is available in the field, it used to have a car-park sign, but it seems to have gone. If the gate is closed there is just about room for a car but use your own judgement.

One of those hidden little gems tucked away and all but forgotten. A monument to an amazing man who was born in nearby Forgue. He joined the army and from lowly beginnings rose through the ranks to full Colonel by the time of his retirement. There is far more.......but you'll have to go read it for yourselves. He became involved in archaeology in retirement and was responsible for many previously unknown Roman sites....not least of these a ONE HUNDRED ACRE Roman site at neaby Ythanwells (marked on OS maps). What a man!
