This cache is placed closed to the crash site Flying Officer Edward Kosh, who was killed in a crash close to this spot in July 1944.
The cache is a small 35mm film cannister, placed on a footpath.
Flying Officer Edward (Ted) Kosh was flying his Hawker Tempest of No 3 Squadron on patrol in July 1944. His role was too shoot down V1 Flying Bombs as they crossed the coast and bring them down in rural area's before they reached London.
It appears that his aircraft was caught in the blast of a V1 after he fired on it and it blew up. F/O Kosh was buried in Hawkinge Kent.
In 1996 the crash site was subject to a unoffical excavation, by people looking for parts of the aircraft. It would appear that some human remains were discovered along with some personal items, these were discarded at the site.
The RAF carried out a recovery operation, and F/O Kosh sister was present at a second burial at Hawkinge in Aug 2001.
The site is classified as a War Grave.
