Geocache Description:

The cache is a 35mm film pot located at ground level.

I have driven through this junction hundreds of times over the years but it was only recently that I saw the four loopholes in the garden wall at the top of the adjacent bank and realised their significance.
They are four machine gun slots that would have been used to spray a hail of devastating bullets on to the WW2 Nodal Point at this junction.

During WW2 Nodal Points where places where an arrangement of artificial obstacles where placed at various road junctions.
The obstacles often consisted of concrete blocks, cylinders and / or cones.
The intention was to delay the enemy advance by a number of days thereby enabling allied reinforcements to be brought in to the area.

This cache is placed near to the location of the WW2 Nodal Point.

Enter N 50° 56.045 E 000° 14.580 in to Google Maps, Street View, to see the four loop holes as they are today.

Enter N 50° 55.876 E 000° 14.457 in to Google Maps, Street View, to see the current location of the dragon's teeth that were used at this nodal point.
