The Old Logging Way opened in October 2008 and provides a great route for cyclists, runners and walkers. With the name reflecting an earlier use of the Glenmore area, it joins Aviemore with Glenmore and avoids the busy ski road for most of the way.
A number of caches have been placed along the Old Logging Way as well as in Glenmore Forest to encourage cachers to explore this route and beyond. Don't forget to note the numbers in the cache containers in order to find the bonus cache.
This series of caches is very suitable for cyclists but less so for car cachers as the ski road can be busy and there are limited parking places. Get on your bike, enjoy some scenery and grab some caches at the same time!
Thanks to Rothiemurchus Estate and the Forestry Commission for allowing these caches to be placed.
Old Logging Way 1 - Over the Spey
The route heads out of Aviemore and crosses the river Spey on the old bridge. If you're there on the right weekend in the summer look downstream and you might see folk jumping their bikes into the river from a specially-made ramp!
Be stealthy...and PLEASE MAKE SURE CACHE IS REPLACED SECURELY AND EVERYTHING OUT OF SIGHT!
