Geocache Description:

4 Novembre 2016 : 3ème maintenance.

November 4, 2016: 3rd maintenance. The cache hides itself... You seek a camouflaged micro. Use hint and spoilers!

A hike in Cathar land around the castle and village of Roquefixade on a wide path. Roquefixade means "fractured rock" and recalls the huge natural gash filled by the construction of a stone arch. In the middle of the eleventh century, this stronghold was dependent on the counts of Toulouse, who knew a difficult relationship with their neighbours of Foix. As they pleased, , they entrusted it to them or took it back from them to leave it in the Pailhès lineage's care.
At the time of the crusade, the rock became a refuge for some routed Cathar perfects.
From the summit, the defenders of Roquefixade could communicate by fire with those of Montségur.
Superb views of the Lauragais, Corbières and Olmes.
Set atop its steep rock, Roquefixade played its role until the first third of the twelfth century. But in 1632, Louis XIII and Richelieu considered that these old fortresses were expensive to maintain.
Roquefixade then served as a stone quarry.
