An early settler named Parley came to the area of meadows, also
called 'Parks'. Silver was found by military survey in 1868, then
came workers from the finished trans continental railroad, and the
rush was on. Over 70 mines were in the district, over 1200 miles of
tunnels, over $450 million of ore extracted, 23 millionares as a
result. In 1884 Parley Park was shortened to Park City and
incorporated. As mining died out in later years some maps listed it
as a ghost town in the 1950's. In1963, a federal redevelopment loan
seeded a new ski area called Treaure Mountain, now called PCMR.
PCMR hosted snow board half pipe and ski slalom events during the
2002 Olympics. You can see the venue from the hill above the
cache
The cache is a green ammo box. Best way to cache is
a single track trail on east side of stores, before bank. Remember
that you are walking at 7000'! Walk is about 10 minutes one way.
Congrats to Ryan, FTF.
