A nice walk in the woods of Northern Lower Michigan.
Located on the Old Mission Peninsula north of some really nice restaurants, taverns, and an ever-expanding number of wineries.
There are some foxes in these woods. I hope you spot one.
The parking lot is located at N 44° 59.423 - W 085° 28.815. Head south, past the war monument to find the path.
The paths are marked with "You are here" maps at crossroads. There are some of the oldest and largest pine trees in the state in this township park. Stop and look at some of these giants and try to think of a time when ALL the trees in the state were that big.
Recently the trail network and markings have been improved at the Old Mission Point Park. It is now possible to find this cache without any serious bushwhacking or even leaving a marked trail by more than 50 feet or so. The hint below has been updated with a suggested approach route.
It is about a mile and a half for the main loop or you can just return to the parking lot the way that you came. There are many other beautiful parts of the park, just consult the trail signs.
Please DO NOT leave ANY food, drink or tobacco items.
