Geocache Description:

This cache is an easy find (use your GEOSENSE), good for children, dogs are okay.

Watch for the low hanging spiny things at eye level.

Cache is ground level.

Please park on the north side of Normandy so as not to disturb the neighbors. :)

Recent development on the northwest corner has changed the sidewalk/approach, actually making it a safer cache to find.

Cache History:

**New container placed on 6/17/2019 with fresh logbook and swag too.**

Cache Information:

Located in a group of trees, just off the corner of Normandy Rd. and Urania Ave. in "Old Leucadia." If you take a drive through this section of Leucadia, you will note the street names, Normandy, Brittany, Olympus, Sparta, are all European and Greek in nature. Not sure of the origins, but enjoyed growing up here and the fact that most homes (Pre-1980) had their own mail boxes (see some cool handpainted examples on the drive up Urania Avenue (northbound) from Leucadia Boulevard (Old Woodley Avenue). The cache is located on a corner that used to be in the heart of the flower growing business that supported Encinitas' title of "Flower Capital of The World" before business owners succumbed to South American business in the late eighties and early nineties. As a matter of fact, the Lennar Homes project directly west of the cache used to be SeaCoast Greenhouses, and the new homes just north and east of the cache used to be Chino Greenhouses, who parked their signature green and white Kenworth cab-over big rig for years in the parking lot facing Urania Avenue. Much has changed in "Old Leucadia", and some of the remaining flower business' can be hard to find. Check out Crutchfield's Flowers at the northern terminus of Saxony Avenune, as well as the wholesale flower market still in business at the northwest corner of Leucadia Boulevard and Saxony Avenue. Have fun finding this cache, as well as visiting my other "Old Leucadia" cache, The Woodley Avenue cache, just east of Encinitas Ranch Golf Course.

There is ample parking west and north of the cache on Normandy Avenue. The street can be especially busy during mornings and evenings, as well as afternoons with Capri Elementary school traffic, so practice caution when caching with the kid-o's.
