This is Part 3 of my Biography Series. My family moved to Jericho Road when I was 3 months old. There were only a handful of families. When my (older) brothers went to school, the "bus" was a neighbor's station wagon!
Jericho Community Clubhouse: This old schoolhouse was in use until the late 1950s. Originally, the whole Jericho Road area was a school district with 4 farm families living here. When population growth closed the school, it became the responsibility of the residents of the community. It was, and still is, a gathering place for potluck dinners, meetings, sing-a-longs, and parties. I can still taste Ruth's baked beans, Corabelle's lasagne and Mrs. Courtemarshe's whoopie-pies! Inside there are beautiful, huge slates on the walls, a big ol'potbelly stove, upright piano and.... an indoor outhouse!!
