Il santuario della Madonna di San Luca è un importante santuario nella storia della città di Bologna, fin dalle sue origini meta di pellegrinaggi per venerare la sacra icona della Vergine col Bambino detta "di San Luca". Ancora oggi, tipicamente gli studenti e i ragazzi, si promettono di andare a piedi fino a San Luca se una cosa che reputano molto difficile (ad esempio superare un esame, ecc...) dovesse accadere.

Ma veniamo al cache, è un multi, semplice, a due stadi che potete decidere di fare sia a piedi che in macchina. Se decidete di andare a piedi sappiate che è bellissimo, il portico vi porterà fino in cima alla basilica in circa 30 minuti, la valutazione del terreno e gli attributi sono stati fatti pensando al percorso in macchina, a piedi la valutazione sarebbe 3,5.

Le coordinate del cache vi porteranno al Meloncello, l'inizio del lungo porticato che arriva fino in cima a San Luca, di fronte ad un iscrizione, le coordinate non saranno molto precise sotto al portico, per cui se avete problemi a trovare le scale iniziali, utilizzate il waypoint "TRAILHEAD" e salite le scale.

Il primo compito è quello di trovare l'iscrizione raffigurata in questa foto di cui riporto parte dell'iscrizione in lingua latina:

tradotto in italiano significa: "Portico, unisce la città al tempio, dietro consiglio e richiesta di Don Ludovico Generoli ..."

La 14esima e ultima riga di questa iscrizione (censurata nella foto) riporta un numero in cifre romane, vi servirà per raggiungere il cache finale che si trova a:

dove xxx = anno - 1261 e
yyy = anno - 1206

se volete, potete calcolare anche le coordinate del parcheggio vicino al cache, che si trova a:

The sanctuary of the Madonna di San Luca is an important sanctuary church in the history of Bologna, since the beginning it's the destination for pelegrimns to worship the holy icon of the "Vergine with the children", named "of San Luca". Also in these days, tipically students and guys, promise to walk to the top of San Luca if something they think is really hard (like passing a particular exam, etc...) would happen.

To the cache now, it's an easy, two stages multi, that you can decide to hunt walking or by car. If you decide to walk, then you need to know that it's really beautiful, the porch will take you to the top of San Luca in about 30 minutes, the terrain and attributes rating has been made considering the hunt by car, if you decide to walk, then the terrain would be rated 3.5.

The cache coordinates will take you to the Meloncello, the starting point of the long porch that reaches the top of San Luca, in front of an inscription, the coordinates won't be very precise under the porch, so if you have trouble finding the inscription, use the "TRAILHEAD" waypoint that will take you to the starting stairs, climb them and start looking for it.

The first task is to find the inscription shown on this picture, I wrote down part of the inscription in latin language here:

translated to english, it means: "Porch, linking the city to the temple, under request and suggestion of Don Ludovico Generoli ..."

The 14th and last line of this inscription (censored on the picture) has a number written in roman letters, you'll need it to reach the final cache which is at:

where xxx = year - 1261 and
yyy = year - 1206
