"...og saae ud i Verden over Kjøbenhavn og Vandet; saa gik vi paa Frederiksberg, hvor Kongen og Dronningen i deres prægtige Baade seilede om i Kanalerne."
–H.C. Anderson, Hyldemoer
"...and looked down on Copenhagen, and far, far away over the water; then we went to Frederiksberg, where the King and the Queen were sailing about in their splendid barges!"
–H.C. Anderson, Elder-tree mother
Frederiksberg Have
Frederiksberg Have is a 32 hectare large park located in Frederiksberg community. The park is an English style romantic landscape garden with baroque remnants.
With the construction of Frederiksberg Palace, Frederiksberg Have was laid out as the palace garden in the at that time –early 18th century– prevailing 'Garden à la française' –or baroque– style, characterised by a highly symmetric layout. This symmetry is still visible today when looking over the park from Frederiksberg Palace (waypoint FB/FH002).
At the start of the 19th century, the park was redesigned in the then prevailing English Garden style, characterised by gently rolling grounds, canals and patches of trees breaking up the grassy open spaces. Additionally a number of Romantic elements were incorporated within the park: a waterfall, grotto, chinese summerhouse, etc.
The development of the park is an ongoing process. In 2008 the latest addition was opened: An unobstructed view of the elephants in the Copenhagen Zoo. The playground was completely reconstructed in 2019.

Waypoints
It is not necessary to start with FA/FH001, nor is it required to visit the waypoints in the given order. However, the sequence is such that it will guide you through most of Frederiksberg Have.
FA/FH001 (17): Statuen af Frederik 6./Statue of Frederik VI
At the main gate to the park, H.W. Bissen's statue of Frederik VI –who liked to stroll among his subjects– greets the visitors.
QUESTION: What year is carved on the back of the pedestal?
FB/FH002 (3): Udsigt fra Frederiksberg Slot/View from Frederiksberg Palace
In Frederik's time the view stretched all the way to the Øresund. Nowadays there are still long vistas over the lake and park.
QUESTION: How many people are in the rowing boat on the lake?
FC/FH003 (4): Apistemplet/Temple of Apis
Built in 1804, the Temple of Apis takes you back to antiquity. The round pillars are originally from Amalienborg. The view gives you a glimpse of Det Kinesiske Lysthus.
QUESTION: How many round pillars are there?
FD/FH004 (5): Kildegrotten/Spring Grotto
Secluded behind dark trees is the spring grotto. The stone arch amplifies the sound of the running water which originally came from one of many springs on Frederiksberg hill.
QUESTION: How many stone benches?
FE/FH005 (7): Ønskehøjen/Wishing Hill
Under the cover of lime trees and with a view on one of the many canals, ancient history is reproduced in the form of a dolmen.
QUESTION: How many large stones are used to create this dolmen?
FF/FH006 (8): Elefanterne/The Elephants
An open view at the elephant enclosure in the zoo. All year round you may see the elephants roaming around outside. During the summer, they may also take a bath.
QUESTION: Count the horizontal wires in the fence.
FG/FH007 (10): Mathildehøjen/Mathilde Hill
Located at the west side of Frederiksberg Have. The top of the hill is crowned with 300 year old linden trees.
QUESTION: How many faces are on top of the hill?
FH/FH008 (12): Andebakkenøen/Duck Hill Island
Close to the footpaths is Duck Hill Island, where a colony of Grey Heron breed. The migrating birds arrive in march to start building their nests. The island is not accessible for the public.
At this waypoint there's a nice view of the island and a great place to feed a variety of birds. Bring some left-over bread!
QUESTION: How many trunks sprout from the base of the tree on the left (when facing the island)?
FI/FH009 (15): Legepladsen/Playground
More than one hundred years ago a playground was added to the park. It has been changed numerous times to keep up with modern demands. It was reconstructed in 2019.
QUESTION: How many red columns support the large climbing structure (which is inspired by the Chinese Summerhouse)?
FJ/FH010 (13): Trækfærgen/Rope Ferry
A remnant from the Baroque period of the park. During summertime a reconstruction of the ferry is moored to one of the piers. Across the channel you are once again looking at Duck Hill Island (see FH/FH008).
QUESTION: What's the UK patent number on the plate on the left pole (when facing the island)? The third numeral might be hard to read. It's an 8.
FK/FH011 (–): Hidden treasure
Hidden in a corner of the park there's another little treasure for the enjoyment of past and present visitors to Frederiksberg Have.
QUESTION: How many stone objects are tucked away in that corner?
FL/FH012 (6): Vandfaldet/The Waterfall
The waterfall –a typical example of 19th century Romanticism to create atmosphere– roars from the ruin on Spring Island into the quiet channel, breaking the silence.
QUESTION: How many swans are swimming in the water?
FM/FH013 (1): Det Kinesiske Lysthus/The Chinese Summerhouse
Great example of the Romantic fascination with the exotic: The Chinese Summerhouse. The interior is decorated with Chinese motifs and imitation and genuine Chinese furniture.
QUESTION:Count the number of goldfish on the roof of the bridge.
(The number between brackets refers to the number on the Frederiksberg Have brochure.)
Finding the cache
To find the cache, you'll need to do a Gade caclulation first: Sort all the digits of the found numbers in ascending order. I.e. If you found 3, 12 and 1734, your list will be 1123347. Hereafter you fill up the row with all unused numbers from 0 to 9, again in ascending order: 112334705689. Finally assign each of the numbers to a letter: a=1, b=1, c=2, d=3, ..., k=8 and l=9.
Now make your own Gade from all the numbers you collected at each of the waypoints.
The cache is located within the park at: N 55° 40.npm E012° 31.qcw.

Detailed travel information can be obtained from rejseplanen.dk.
This multi-cache is a 3.5 km walk and will take about one hour to complete.
Wheelchair users
The Frederiskberg Have multi-cache is largely suitable for wheelchair users. Most of the paths are compacted gravel, on which we have seen a few wheelchairs being pushed. However, if attempting this cache, do have company on foot along, as a couple of the waypoints require walking up a steep hill or through the grass. Also the final location is not accessible for wheelchairs.
We recommend starting at the South entrance (waypoint F2/FHEN2) –the top of Frederiksberg hill&8211; and working your way downhill by answering the questions for waypoint FB/FH002, then waypoint FC/FH003 followed by waypoint FF/FH006. Hereafter, the rest of the park is fairly flat and should be reasonably easy for wheelchair users.
If you parked your car on the southern parking area, we recommend to exit via West entrance (waypoint F3/FHEN3) and use the side walk to go up Roskildevej as it is paved and its incline is less steep than in the park.
Enjoy your walk through Frederiksberg Have!
