Schilfsandstein ist die alte, aber meiner Meinung nach schönere
und auch einprägsamere Bezeichnung für die Gesteinsformationen vor
denen ihr an den angegebenen Koordinaten steht. Er leitet sich
davon her, dass das Gestein recht fossilienreich ist und man immer
wieder Abdrücke von Schachtelhalmen und Farnen gefunden, diese aber
irrtümlich für Schilf gehalten hat. Seit 1997 heißen diese
Formationen offiziell „Stuttgart-Formation“.
Der Schilfsandstein/die Stuttgart-Formation bildet einen Teil
des Mittleren Keupers und zieht sich durch ganz Deutschland.
An dieser Stelle des Lembergs findet man eine Hinweistafel zur
Entstehung des Schilfsandsteins, der in vielen umliegenden Häusern
und sogar im Ludwigsburger Schloss verbaut wurde. Durch
Reliefumkehr entstanden, stellt der Lemberg einen Zeugenberg des
württembergischen Keuperberglandes dar.
Der Teil des Weges, auf dem ihr Euch
befindet, stellt ein Naturdenkmal dar, also verhaltet Euch bitte
entsprechend !!!

„Schilfsandstein“ is the former but IMHO nicer and
more memorable name for this formation of rocks. The name
originates from the fact that many fossils can be found in this
layer and people used to think that the fossils of fern and
horsetail were reed. Since 1997 the official name is
“Stuttgart-formation” . It is a part of Keuper and can
be found throughout Germany.
At this place of the Lemberg you’ll find an information
panel with facts about formation of “Schilfsandstein”.
This stone was used to build houses in the surrounding area and
even in Ludwigsburg Palace. Lemberg itself is a butte arisen by
inversion. It belongs to the Late Triassic (formerly Keuper) of
Württemberg.
This part of the trail you are
standing belongs to a natural monument, so please be careful and
respect the surroundings!!!
