Malaga View - Humbys Cache #2
This was our second hidden cache using our new Christmas GPS. Park in the lot near the Malaga View Elementary school and walk down toward the pool. There is a path near the bottom of the road -- and you'll probably want to take it (on the right -- steep incline, be careful). While your GPS will want you to take a shorter route, we would advise against going 'cross-country' across the ravine.
Some people have commented on the large number of cats at the top of the hill near the parking lot and road. There is a colony of feral cats living in this area and some of the locals have 'adopted' these critters - and stop by to feed them on a daily basis.
Enjoy this spot, watch the surfers, gaze at the view from Torrance Beach through Redondo, Hermosa, Manhattan, Santa Monica and Malibu. This is one of the most incredible views of the Santa Monica Bay and you are likely to find very beautiful sunsets.
1-21-06 UPDATE - Baby Kit is 2 months old today and we trekked to PV to replace the missing cache. This is still the best view in the South Bay and it's hard to believe that this cache has been here for over 5 years!
12/28/10 Update - we finally got around to replacing this lost cache and have stocked it with some goodies including a Boy Scout Geocoin!
2/27/2020 Update - we replaced the cache container with a lot of new goodies including a travel bug and rebuilt the rock camo.
