Geocache Description:

Kings Pond is a great place to take the kids for a 20 min walk, or bike ride. Easy parking and lots to spot.

The pond is special to me as we used to take the kids there a lot when they were younger to feed the birds - Watch out for the angry geese!

In 1710 the area was known as Mill Moor. The pond was probably made in the late eighteenth century by William King, paper maker at Spittle Mill (site of the present flats). The pond and surround, now including The Dell, an old chalk quarry, is owned and maintained by Alton Town Council as a public open space. It is an attractive lake with wooded surround, in all about 11 acres (4.45 hectares) and supports a range of wildlife with birds and wild flowers. Different species are seen at each season of the year, while the presence of birds varies with the time of day.

The Cache is a 4" round plastic pot, filled with swaps.
