Long Valley - The last piece of wet agricultural land in Hong Kong

Long Valley is a flood plain at the northwest of Sheung Shui MTR station with an area of 25 hectares. Apart from wet fields cultivating water cress and water spinach, the site has a composite of different micro-habitats including blood worm ponds, lotus ponds, fruit trees margining the fields and gullies etc. It is renowned as the “second Mai Po” for over 250 bird species have been recorded here up to now.

Transportation Take green mini-bus route no. 51K at the mini-bus stand between Sheung Shui MTR station and Landmark North and get off at the terminus in Ho Sheung Heung

Near the GZ, you may find a sign post and has some suggested routes for you to walk around Long Valley, but I am sorry that no English version can be found. I have sent my suggestion to HKBWS and The Conservancy Association. Hope can see the English version one day.

By the way, I observed more than 20 bird species within 2 hours when I was placing this cache. Hope you enjoy a bird watching day.
