This cache is placed near to the site of a plane crash. In January 1944 a Mosquito carrying an Australian pilot 'Roo' and a navigator crashed while on a training flight. The details stayed secret, and later records show engine failure resulting in an explosion in the air. The navigator bailed out, but was too close to the ground and later died. The pilot was blown out of the plane in the explosion. The sound of the crash was heard in the village, and many local people went to the scene, including two teenagers who met for the first time and recently celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. This couple remained in the village, and recently replied to a letter in the local paper, placed by a good friend of the pilot, Silvia Pickering, who had not known what happened to her friend until the couple told her. She visited the area, and they were instrumental in siting a memorial to the airmen in St Deinst Church, Llangarron. She wrote two books about her time in bomber command, where she writes about her friendship with Roo and details about the crash
