Geocache Description:

An ammo container full of Silly Bands for trading, located in Lubas Field in Montgomery Twp NJ.

CONGRATS TO LATI.DUDE FOR FTF!!!

After 68 logged finds, the Saplings figured it was our turn to give back to this family hobby we enjoy by hiding our own cache. Sophia 7, and Sydney 5, the shorter members of The Saplings, were instrumental in picking out the name, location, container, theme, and contents of this cache. So please consider this to be a cache designed and placed by kids for other kids to enjoy.

As such, it is an easy park and grab, at a park called Lubas Field, off of Rt 601 in Montgomery Twp, NJ. The primary theme is those crazy Silly Bands that they trade back and forth with their friends. It is their hope that you will pick up a few and drop off a few of the little rubber bands, called Silly Bands. Theodore J. Lubas Field sports a parking lot, a baseball diamond, and a kid’s playground.

The container is a full size ammo box we purchased from Harry’s Army Surplus. Inside is a smaller plastic container which once held wonton soup, but today holds Silly Bands. It should be an easy find, even for the younger kids. This is NJ so pickers, and poison ivy and ticks can always be a threat, but the cache is no more than 30 feet from the parking lot, minimizing those risks. Enjoy some playtime on the kids playground after the cache, as mine did today when we hid it.

Montgomery Twp allows bow hunting deep in the woods to the north and east of the parking lot. The playground, the ball field, and the cache are to the south of the parking lot and obviously off limits to bow hunting. The bow hunting season is Sep-Feb, and never on Sundays.

The park was founded in 1972 in the name of Theodore J. Lubas, who died Oct 8, 1970 after long service to the local community. He lived in Belle Mead, and served 10 years on the Montgomery Board of Education, 5 years on the Recreation Committee. He was founder and President of the township's softball league and coached many baseball and baketball teams.
