Geocache Description:

This geocache is dedicated to a beautiful little fish which is endemic to the Teuchitlan River, appreciated all over the world, and in great danger of becoming extinct in its native habitat.

The cache is hidden 85 m south of a warm spring which arises just off the shore of the river and where lots of these livebearing fish (members of the Goodeid family) can
still be seen, their distinctive yellow tail stripe flashing in the sunlight. You can swim in this warm water.

To find the cache, take highway 15 west from Guadalajara toward Nogales. Don’t get on the toll road (cuota). Turn off onto highway 70 for Ameca. After 18.5 kilometers, turn right onto Jalisco highway 4 and drive 14 kilometers to Teuchitlán.

I suggest you park in front of the Teuchitlan hotel (on the highway), next to which you will find the start of a scenic hike-and-bike trail (andador) which follows the river north about a kilometer and will get you near the
cache. There is also a very nice (and different) andador running south for 2 km, starting just south of the restaurants across the highway.

Contents: Geocoin PC54V6, tennis ball, Saudi sand, Coors beer label, purple heart pin.
