A series for those times when you are a bit incapacitated.
You know what its like you plan your weekend / holiday /etc, and then the day comes and suddenly it strikes!!!
It being an illness / accident / etc and walking all day seems to have lost its appeal. But you still want to get out and cache.
Inspired by cachers we have met who have had to have time off for various reasons, like weston wanderer, sssskenties and ourselves.
So here we have a series just for those times. All caches are drivable with a few short walks, after all you’ve got to get out and stretch the legs, we don’t want you getting dvt!
However you will need to use your brain and your eyes , they are still working aren’t they?
So there are a few puzzles, a multis, and some sneaky hides. You might not have far to walk, but you can’t expect it too easy.
Hopefully you will find them interesting, each one has a reason I have bought you here.
The caches can be done on their own as I think they all have some merit, you can plan your own route as it is roughly circular with limited parking near all caches however its intended as a series, collecting info for a bonus cache at the end, hence if you intend to complete it in one go its best to start at bombing decoy and end at silver wells to put you in best place for the bonus.
Information for the bonus will be found in some of but not all the caches in the series, so make sure you check each cache carefully. (see bonus for full details).
NOTE.....
Please bring you own pen and a pair of tweezers may be handy as well.

If you stand to the left of the cache site with your back to the road in the distance you can make out a concrete building.
This is infact an airfield bombing decoy.
Diversion and deception were key forms of defence during the 1939-45 period and Wormegay is an example of a decoy airfield constructed to lure attacking bombers away from genuine airfield targets, in this instance RAF Marham.
The main tin structure housed the crew, there is a small brick cross passage and a reinforced concrete generator area with pipes for the passage of fuel, exhaust, etc. The top of the structure would have been equipped with a "scarecrow" light and possibly a Lewis gun for air defence. In operation the structure would have been buried in a protective earth mound, but this has since been removed.
The scarecrow light was used to simulate the movement of aircraft on the ground. In addition, the crew would have operated a system of false runway lights, flares at night and possibly even dummy aircraft during the day.
If you are able I highly recommend you complete spindlewoods - who nicked the nar, which is an excellent cache and the bombing decoy is accessible from a footpath along the way.
