Geocache Description:

This is a camoed cassette case in a historic old service station that doubled as a airplane navigation aid back in the 1930's. Contains only a log sheet. BYOP. Good Luck

Believe it or not, this odd little building set in the parking lot amoungst all these big boxes and restaurants, was originally an Atlantic Richfield Beacon service station built back in the 1930's. It was located on the old route of 101 just south of the entrance to the old Drive-In Theater that used to be out here. It was one of a few dozen or so of these stations that also had a large 125 ft tall steel tower out front that was used to advertise the station, and also as a night time navigation aid for early air traffic, as it had a beacon placed on top. There were about 24 of these along the Highway 99 route, and a number of them on the 101 also.
I plan on adding this location to my historic101.com website soon, but you get read more about the history of these stations at the "related web page".
Watch for walking muggles, and sitting ones too. This is also used as a bus stop location.
Enjoy
