This cache is located off the Patea track at the base of Mount Egmont/Taranaki. The Patea track takes about 1 hour to walk and is through pleasant native bush.
The Patea track can be entered near the Stratford Mountain House. The cache is located along the track. The track gets a bit muddy at times but is well marked and an easy walk. During winter it is likely to be rainy or snowy so it will pay to be prepared for any weather conditions during that time.
The cache is in a medium sized transparent plastic container. It is located behind a tree covered in leaves and bushes. It contains a log book and pen as well as various other items.
