Dad-Daughter Hikers Traditional Cache

This cache is located in a remote and scenic area of the White Mountains in New Hampshire, that is accessible only to hikers.
Placed on the occasion of the 5th Annual Dad-Daughter hike, which this year was attended by 6 dad and 7 daughters. Daughters range from age 10 to 16. This year it was a four day trek, which took us to Carter Notch hut, Joe Dodge Lodge, and Lakes of the Clouds. Daughters did great...dads are recovering!
Cache is in the "ramparts" next to Carter Notch hut. The ramparts is a boulder field, that was created from a landslide many years ago. The boulders are the size of cars and are all jumbled on top of each other. Kids, and many adults, can't resist climbing around on them. It is a wild and spectacularly scenic spot.
Shortest way there is to park at trailhead of Nineteen Mile Brook trail, which is a few miles north of Pinkham Notch / Joe Dodge Lodge. Then hike 2 1/2 hours to Carter Notch Hut area. Reservations are needed to stay at the hut (www.amc.org), but anyone is welcome to stop in, fil up water bottles, and sit for a while.
