Crawford Notch is a spectacular example of New England mountain scenery. This glacier-carved valley features thousand-foot high cliffs, abundant hiking, climbing, autumn foliage, and opportunities for outdoor adventure. The sheer Frankenstein Cliffs are immediately opposite the cache’s location, as is the high trestle of the old Maine Central Mountain Division which is now used for tourist excursions by the Conway Scenic Railway.
The cache was placed in mid winter when the campground is closed and skis or snowshoes are recommended for back country travel. The cache contains a notebook and numerous prizes including a moose-calling audio cassette, several assortments of rare foreign money, a fine Grolsch cap, music cassettes, and a good assortment of keychains and trinkets.
Please log you visits in the logbook and at the geocaching.com site and let us know your stories and comments. Take a moment or two to enjoy the scenery. Happy hunting!
