Geocache Description:

Walking on Rákoskert (Medium)

"Rákoskert 75 éves" memorial stone

Rákoskert is situated between Rákoshegy and Ecser in Budapest XVII. district. Includes Strázsahegyként area. Rákoskert remotest district of the city of Budapest. About 23 km away from the zero kilometre stone by road. Farther than Erd, Biatorbágy, Szigetszentmiklós, Gyál or Dunakeszi.

Rákoskert located on Pesti-lying. Area of the district is hilly. About a military map of 1989, the lowest (the rákoskerti rail stops near 169 m) and the highest point, the Forest Hill (which is also the highest point of the plain of Pest - 241 m) of slightly more than 72 m of vertical rise. Therefore, the district is similar to the nature of Buda. The average altitude is between 205-210 meters. The area in which today's Rákoskert lies probably belonged to Rákoscsa in the Árpád-age. Rákoscsaba name was first mentioned in 1067 charter as Racusa Chaban (Csabarákosa).



The area owner was Dr. Schell baroness. Füredi Francis at the turn of the twenties and thirties. After the family lawyer's advice, he decided to plot and sell the estate. Rákoscsaba representative on 19 February 1933 approved the plans of Baron Gyula Schell, so this date is considered the foundation of Rákoskert.
