Geocache Description:

This is a replacement cache to Johnson's Log which seems to have been abandoned by the original geocacher. This new cache Johnson's Fort Entrance will take its place. The cache is tethered with a string to keep the cache in place. Have fun! Feel free to post a photo of yourself standing in front of the log. It is always nice to see who has visited the cache. List where you are from. It is interesting when we all read where the visitors are from.

Johnson's Fort Entrance is near the original site of Johnson's Fort, which was one of the first Homesteads in Iron County, Utah. Standing at the monument and looking northward down that dirt road and seeing that farmer's home, on the right hand side you will see the remains of that Fort.
The cache should be easy to find. Sign the log. Take something and leave something. Read about Joel Hills Johnson. He helped some 13 cities/towns in Southern Utah and Nevada. He also invented and patented the first machine to split wood shingles from logs in 1829.
