Geocache Description:

The cache has been sited overlooking Watwick Beach one of Pembrokeshires hidden gems. It can be reached via public footpaths. The cache contains a few swaps as well as the logbook. The cache has been sited with the kind permission of the CCW Pembrokeshire Senior Conservation Officer.

Watwick Beach is a small quiet sheltered and sandy beach with excellent water quality that is good for windsurfing and sailing. The beach is located on the west coast of Pembrokeshire in the mouth of the Milford Haven between St Ann's Head and Watwick Point close to the town of Dale. Watwick Beach is popular for swimming, sailing and walking .....as with many Pembrokeshire beaches it is bordered by the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. What Watwick beach lacks in facilities it gains in seclusion, .... so take a picnic (and it's just a short walk 2.5km to the village of Dale). Just off the right side of the beach inline with the stone ramp is the wreck of the first world war submarine E39 which was being towed for dismantling which came to rest here seaward of Dale on the Dale side of the Haven, the stern part rests about 120 metres outside of the bay along with loads of Telegraph cable which may have been pulled from the CABLE LAYER Faraday to be stripped easily in shelter!!. The submarine is a dive site for divers within the haven and is now in two parts. the stern is still here but the bow has broken away and has settled round in the next bay.
