A small cache situated on the Marloes peninsula, commonly known as the Deer Park
This cache has been placed with the kind permission of the National Trust.
The Deer Park as it is commonly known is a remote area on the Western edge of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. You will need to pass through the small picturesque village of Marloes in order to reach this cache.
Despite its name, there were never any deer in the Deer Park, but the original intention was that there would be, around the year 1800.
There are wild ponies grazing, together with cattle, so a little awareness will still be required.
Martins Haven is also the embarkation stage for day trips to Skomer Island, a beautiful nature reserve just off the coast; the best time to visit Skomer is between June and August when Puffins are rearing their young in the numerous burrows on the island.
A walk around the Deer Park in August - October should provide the opportunity to view and photograph seals in the coves below as they come ashore to raise their pups.
Why not walk the perimeter of the Deer Park, view the seals, take in the spectacular views while seeking the cache, before returning to the village of Marloes for refreshments?
