This cache was adopted in 2015. The name was changed from Hydra Island to Neverland. The island does not have an official name and this is what we always called it in our family.
Oldham Pond is a 235-acre body of water located in Pembroke and Hanson, Massachusetts. There are three islands, the largest of which is named Monument Island. Although state-owned public property, permission has been received from the Oldham Pond captain and Pembroke Watershed president to place this geocache.
There is a free public beach and boat launch on the Pembroke side on Wampatuck Street (coordinates below), however the parking lot is not large enough to accommodate parking of boat trailers so you’ll need to leave them elsewhere. It’s best to use a canoe, kayak, or inflatable boat if launching from the public boat launch.
Some cachers have enjoyed the rope swing on Monument Island Be careful of broken glass around the island. Unfortunately, Monument Island is a party spot that tends to have quite a bit of litter on it. Please help keep these islands and the pond clean for everyone to enjoy by following CITO. It’s recommended that you bring gloves and a trash bag with you. 15 minutes of cleaning up the area would help a lot!
