The cache name is what this cache is all about!!

On the 13th June 2010, while walking in the area with son Allan and daughter Jessica (Geo Jess), Mr Fish Eagle left his hat here, and only realised it much later.

Deciding that there's no way I was going to do the same walk again that weekend to retrieve my hat, it was never retrieved. The next weekend, weather interfered, and by the first good opportunity, I decided that it would be "long gone" believing that, despite it being quite a remote spot in the middle of the city, people do go there, especially subsistance poachers. The long and the short of it - a rescue attempt never happened, and the hat was written off.

Almost three months later, on 5th September 2010, Mr Fish Eagle, Mr Gps Storm, and Mr Taeros needed to escape bickering kids for a while, and took a walk past here. Lo and behold, there was my hat, lying exactly where I had left it, in the most exposed spot in the area. I've added an additional waypoint for the exact location of where my hat lay (within a few metres of the last fencepost), then you'll realise how amazing it was to still be there almost 3 months later!!

My hat was in perfect condition, albeit it a few shades paler from having lain in the sun for 3 months, and to celebrate the finding of this hat (which was actually a special gift from the Taeros part of the family), this cache was hidden on a 10 Sept trip which was the first time that Mrs Fish Eagle and Mrs Gps Storm did the hike.

This is where the hat lay for 3 months -

It's a special container which we've been looking for a good place to hide for several months. As this location has proved itself to be fairly secure (LOL!!), this is where we've placed it. Anyone who attended our "10 Years!!" event on 1st May 2010 will have already seen the cache - it was one of the decoys.

This cache was hidden by Mr & Mrs Fish Eagle, and Mr and Mrs Gps Storm. Big thanks to Mr Gps Storm who helped to carry the 20Kg cache to the location. I managed about 2/3 of the route via Love Is and High Road or Low Road, and Mr Gps Storm kindly lugged it for the last km or so - phew!!
