This is an opportunity for geocachers and friends to help clean up
Pierce Park and the neighboring Chelsea Community Hospital campus.
Through our volunteer efforts, we help preserve the natural beauty
of these outdoor resources and make a positive impact with just a
little joint effort.
Where to Meet:
Pierce Park parking area
South Main Street
Chelsea, MI 48118
We will be cleaning up trash within the park, in and around its
pavilion, around the playgrounds, and along and in the woods in the
immediate vicinity of Pierce Park. Pierce Park merges with the
campus of Chelsea Community Hospital, and trash clean-up in there
would undoubtedly be welcome. Both the City of Chelsea and Chelsea
Community Hospital have supported geocaching on their grounds, and
this is one way to reciprocate!
What to Bring:
Bring work gloves to protect your hands, buckets or outdoor garbage
bags in which to collect trash, smaller plastic bags in which to
collect any recyclables you may find. If it's sunny, you may wish
to bring sunscreen. Bring water to drink if you'd like.
When:
Sunday, November 7, 2010
Please plan to arrive at 1:45 PM, so we can coordinate our
efforts. We plan to start clean-up at 2 PM. We should wrap up
around 3 PM to 3:30 PM, depending on the number of participants
and, of course, the amount of trash.
After this CITO event, participants may with to geocache in the
vicinity. There are more than half a dozen geocaches located in the
Pierce Park/Chelsea Community Hospital area, with many more hidden
nearby in the Chelsea area. Twister's Ice Cream, located next door
to Pierce Park, is also open for business until mid-November.
Parking:
Parking is available, first come, first served, in the small Pierce
Park lot. Parking along the entrance drive to Chelsea Community
Hospital, just to the north of the park, is commonplace. The CVS
lot is within walking distance, as is the larger lot of the Village
Shopping Plaza.
