Geocache Description:

Miquelon Lake became a vacation hot spot in the early 1900's when a railway line was laid between Camrose and Tofield. Nearby Kingman became known as the Gateway to Miquelon.

The amenities at the lake were greatly improved when the Miquelon Lake Provincial Park was established in 1958. There are camping and picnic areas, and you can swim and canoe or kayak in the lake. Much of the surrounding area is a bird sanctuary visited by more than 200 species of birds, and there are several kilometers of walking trails in shorter and longer loops.

Of course, you can't see any of that from where you're standing because you're at the wrong Miquelon Lake.

There are in fact three Miquelon Lakes - yes, three! That's just crazy talk, we know, but it's true!

Miquelon Lake was once much larger but the waters subsided in the late 1920's, leaving three basins isolated from each other. You're standing on the south shore of the most southerly basin, but it's not the basin with the beach or most of the water.

The lake with all the good stuff is less than 10 kms to the northwest if you'd like to relax for a bit - and scoop some of the caches there.
