Part of the lure to El Dorado State Park is the way the land has reacted to the lake. You're in an area that was obviously a quarry at one time. But I couldn't help but to be intrigued by the stones washed up or washed onto the shores of the lake in this area too. So I went for a bit of a walk along the water, and thought I would encourage y'all to do the same.
Its only about 0.1 miles from the parking, which would suggest this could be easy. BUT - there is little easy about this. If you haven't hit the Boulder Bluff nearby, you can track along the shore line over the stones there -- and if not, you can cover different stones as you make a more dramatic elevation change.
Depending on the time of year, this is going to be a different challenge:
Wetter times, this is going to be messy.
Colder times, this is going to be icy.
Early summer, this is going to be poison ivy'y.
And any time, this is going to be snakey.
Its a pill bottle, room for smaller coins and smaller swag; but all it has at the start is a log. Its a short hike, but prepare well & wear strong shoes.
Stolen from Badd Company:
Cache is in El Dorado State Park and requires a parking permit. If you're a regular geocacher, why not buy an annual permit good for all the parks? There are several caches inside the park now as well as several in the nearby hunting areas. Fishermen are nearby, fishing looked good so a little stealth may be necessary.
