In addition to a great view of Mount Baker, this location offers opportunities to watch boat traffic coming in and out of Anacortes Marinas. Oil tankers, barges and tugboats are also regular users of this marine Highway.
The pair of benches are a recent addition, placed in memory to the late Dean Allen. After he died last December, his friends got together and paid for two benches to honor him.
The benches are placed right where he and his dog spent so many hours savoring the view of Mount Baker, the boat traffic, and the ever-changing moods of Fidalgo Bay.
