Geocache Description:

Time for more traditional hides - the good ol' ammo box in the woods for you cache a-fish-ianados.

Haas Sanctuary is a small SMRA nature preserve with about a mile or so of trails criss-crossing through the property. There is a small parking area on Sheather Road. You can stay on the trails most of the way to the cache. The final bushwack is a bit overgrown in summer.

The ammo box is located approximately 150 feet off the white trail under a large flat boulder next to a fallen tree. The tree was standing when we placed the cache, but it toppled during hurricane Sandy, nearly landing on top of the cache.

While wandering around, we found a lonely gravestone marking the resting place of Fernbrook Drumfire, 1918-1940. Googling the name we learned that Fernbrook Drumfire, the veteran pony owned by the Fernbrook Farm of George C. Haas, of Mount Kisco, won a couple of championships back in 1928 and 1930. So Fernbrook was a pony!
