Geocache Description:

While out driving the back roads, we came upon this old historic cemetery. I could only find a little information on this place, which is below:

San Benito County Cemetery started in 1889. San Benito County owns the cemetery however it is maintained by the San Benito County Cemetery Preservation Society and some what by the county. Other names the cemetery went by are; County Cemetery, Hollister Cemetery, Potters Field, County Hospital Cemetery, County Farm Cemetery and Public Cemetery. The last person buried there was in 1968. This was a potters cemetery. Very little expense was made for grave markers. If there was family around at the burial time maybe a wood marker would be used otherwise the county would use a little metal marker but over the years the name or number on the markers have since vanished. Cemetery is in fair shape. Only 5 graves are identified, the rest are unknown.

PLEASE replace as found. Use the natural camo to keep this nice little cache hidden!! Bring a writing tool.

Enjoy!
