The Beatles were an English rock band, formed in Liverpool in 1960, and one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed acts in the history of popular music. From 1962 the group consisted of John Lennon (rhythm guitar, vocals), Paul McCartney (bass guitar, vocals), George Harrison (lead guitar, vocals) and Ringo Starr (drums, vocals).

Lennon, as performer, writer, or co-writer he is responsible for numerous number 1 singles on the US charts. He was posthumously inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1987 and into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame later on. At the age of 34 During his seperation from Yoko Ono, Lennon Wrote, recorded and released the album Walls and Bridges. The album captures Lennon in the midst of The Lost Weekend. Walls and Bridges was an American Billboard Hit a and featured Lennon's only chart topping single as a solo artist during his lifetime, "Whatever Gets You thru the Night", a duet with Elton John.

McCartney is listed in The Guinness Book Of Records as the most successful musician and composer in popular music history with sales of 100 million singles and 60 gold discs, Sir Paul McCartney became the Most Successful Songwriter who has written/co written 188 charted records, of which 91 reached the Top 10 and 33 made it to No.1 totalling 1,662 weeks on the chart (up to the beginning of 2008).

After years of being restricted in his song-writing contributions to the Beatles, Harrison's album "All Things Must Pass" contained such a large outpouring of Harrison's songs that it was released as a triple album, His final studio album for EMI (and Apple Records) was Extra Texture (Read All About It), featuring a diecut cover. The album spawned the single, "This Guitar (Can't Keep From Crying)", which became Apple's final original single release in December '75. Harrison was the youngest and 4th and final member to join the beatles.

Starr is the most documented and critically acclaimed actor-Beatle, playing a central role in several Beatles films, and appearing in numerous other movies, both during and after his career with the Beatles. After the Beatles' break-up in 1970, Starr achieved solo musical success with several singles and albums, and recorded with each of his fellow ex-Beatles as they too developed their post-Beatle musical careers. He has also been featured in a number of TV documentaries, hosted TV shows, and narrated the children's television series Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends.
