Geocache Description:

GIMLI PEAK

A scenic 11km round trip hike with about 860m elevation gain in the beautiful Valhallas.

** In 2015 a rockslide covered about a 100m section of the trail located near the cache site. You'll need to navigate through the loose rock to reach the cache. **

Wolfs Ears Peaks are on your right as you make the climb towards Gimlis base.

The picture below shows the camping spot by the base of Gimli Peak and the cache site which is located in a rock cave/shelter further up along the base of the peak. Awesome view of Mulvey Basin and Mulvey Lakes from that spot. Bring something warm to wear, it can get cold up there!

During one adventure we encountered; groundhogs, mtn goats, pikas, a wolly marmot, backpackers, daytrippers, mtn climbers and mountaineers. The parking lot gets full during long weekends. When rehiding the cache, please ensure that it's not visible from outside the cave/shelter.

To reach the parking area - get on the Little Slocan Lake Forest Service Road from either Passmore or Slocan. Turn onto Bannock Creek Forest Service Road which is signed (a few km NW of Little Slocan Lake Rec Site). From here it's almost 13km to the parking area. Stay on the main road and follow the blue and white Valhalla Park signs. If there's ever any question as to which fork in the road to take - always choose the uphill path.
