Geocache Description:

The first of two caches I have placed in the Castle Hill Nature Reserve next to Newhaven Fort.

View near the cache
The area of scrub to the north of the Coastwatch tower hides ruins from the second world war.

Near to ground zero is an intact building that appears to have a blast wall - probably an old munitions store for the gun emplacements on the top of the hill.

There also used to be hospital buildings in this area as part of the Fort complex and many brick and concrete structures may be found.

The area is mostly under tree cover. Unfortunately, the original location is too overgrown and there is no longer a clear view of the sky at ground zero.

This cache has been placed with the kind permission of the Lewes District Council Community Rangers

The cache is a small, camouflaged clip lock box. Initially the swaps were mainly aimed at children but this is not a theme so feel free to swap up with anything suitable.
